After winning the U.S. Girls modeling contest in Missouri - a contest she had no intention of entering in the first place, Leah continues on to sunny California where the top model will be chosen to represent the company. She invited the other three girls from Eight Prime - Melanie, Jenna, and Nicole. She and each of her friends left home on a bit of a bad note.There was friction between Leah and Miguel when she left for the competition. Melanie and Jesse had heated words. Jenna had stuck her nose where it didn't belong and had no time to resolve that with her sister Caitlin. Nicole faced ground-ation for an incident she reluctantly participated in at her sister Heather's insistence.
Having no desire to participate in modeling other than as a way to receive a college scholarship, Leah is more than frustrated with all the hoopla surrounding it. She's never been one for excessive primping and now she's under lights.
Nicole believes that God made a way to launch her modeling career by this trip and does her best to show what she's got as she plans to make herself visible in front of the judges.
Jenna desperately wants to see her new favorite Christian band that is playing at the same hotel she and her friends are staying at but how can she desert Leah when it's Leah who invited her on this trip.
Melanie has had enough of Nicole and knows what she's up to when she makes several trips by the modeling judges.
Clearwater Creek is a young adult series with themes young ladies often find themselves dealing with. However I find that things come too easily for the characters in this series such as issues being resolved. I also have to wonder where Nicole gets her money for her extensive wardrobe and shopping sprees. I'm guessing the issue of sex isn't discussed in these books because these are geared for Christian girls. However ALL girls face this issue; Christian girls are no exception and they need to know how to ward off guys' advances in a way to honor themselves.

Exposition Jenna is joining as many cool sessions as she can and wants Nicole to join her. Nicole wants to spot a star and become one herself. Melanie is very focused on Jesse every where she goes she sees his faces. Jesse is getting focused on his work even though Melanie is his only true he isn't obsessed with her like she is with him. Leah is trying to focus on modeling competition, and the studies for a scholarship, but all she can think about is Miguel's proposal.
Explanation of character and their role in the book They all have a boyfriend and girlfriend. Miguel is a romantic person. Leah is a very pleasurable and smart person. Melanie is very fastidious but agitated. Jesse is very self centered person. Jenna expects to much from others. And Nicole just minds her own bissnieuss.
Character motivation They are all into something whether it's a person or studies.
Strengths and weaknesses of the book It was a really finicky book and a very good quality style of writing.
Are you interested in teen life related books? Skin Deep, by Laura Peyton Roberts, is an amazing book that will attract you to it. It may be a fiction book, but this is a book you will not want to miss out on! It's about a group of girls that have an all expense paid trip to California. Leah won the modeling competition in Clearwater Crossing, Missouri, so she has advanced to the U.S Girls Competition. Jenna, Melanie, Nicole, and herself all are glad to be going to the trip to California to escape their problems. I'm sorry, but to find out the rest of this fantastic book, you have to go out and read it!
This book was such a great book that I recommend it to all the females in the world. I don't think boys will enjoy it too much, because they won't enjoy the problems girls have, and also this is a book that relates to what girl go through in life. So I would definitely recommend this great book to girls in their teen and preteen years. I think that I really enjoyed this book, because I can kind of relate to some of the problems the girls in this book go through on everyday basis. Also, it's exciting to see what happens when there is a problem going on and they solve it. This book never made my mind wander of into outer space. My mind was fully paying attention to this book and also my mind was at work thinking of what was going to happen next. So, I think that if you girls, who I think will enjoy this more than the boys will, read this book. I'm pretty sure that you will enjoy it and thank me for it!
Overall, I hope you saw why I believe that Skin Deep, By Laura Peyton Roberts, is such a great book to read. Not only is it a fabulous book to read, but for most of you girls out there, it should somewhat relate to your life story. At least your teen life should relate a little bit to this book. This book is such a great page-turner, mind thinker, fun, and so much more positive things you can imagine in a book! So, I encourage you to get up on your feet, and get this book, and start reading!
The book itself is good, but the version has an entire section (the second half of chapter 2) that shows up twice in a row. I've only gotten that far so I don't know if it was a problem with my download or if the issue will reoccur, but it seems like a mistake was made somewhere.
I received the wrong book. I ordered Skin Deep by Laura Peyton Roberts #9 in the Clearwater Crossing series, but instead I received Skin Deep by Nora Roberts. I tried to return it for the correct book, but it says it's out of stock. So I tried to get a refund by sending an email, and it WOULDN'T SEND. I kept getting an error. Gah. Quite irritating. At least it wasn't expensive. I wouldn't have minded so much that it was the wrong book, but I couldn't return it or get a refund.
